The Santa Fe, New Mexico firm of Michael Henry, Architect has provided creative architectural services in the Southwest since 1991. Michael Henry works chiefly with extensive light commercial, residential and ranch projects but has involved himself as well with endeavors such as the 16-year re-design for the Bishop's Lodge, one of Santa Fe's most revered resorts. Michael Henry's restoration of an old adobe barn on the Buena Vista Ranch - a working ranch - extended it's life for perhaps another 130 years. Architectural direction for this reconstruction project took its cue from several buildings on the site that date from the post-Civil War era or "Territorial" period. Michael Henry's design plan for the Obermaier Residence in Tesuque Canyon, New Mexico - a traditional Northern New Mexico pitched roof adobe - offers a rare view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains through a notch in the east canyon wall. A multitude of exceptional views, severe slopes and a site underlined with solid rock made design for the Ryan residence, located in the Canada Oncha subdivision of Santa Fe, an unusually challenging project. The light, comfortable southwestern home looks west out over the Rio Grande valley and the Jemez Mountains beyond. Michael Henry has worked in the architectural profession since arriving in Santa Fe in 1979. His goal is " first to explore and understand my clients' needs, and then to satisfy those needs with a creative design that reflects the clients' wishes while also contributing positively to the community.
