Buena Vista Ranch Headquarters Facility
Buena Vista, New Mexico

The Buena Vista Ranch is a working ranch located in northeastern New Mexico. The architectural direction for the project took its cue from several buildings on the site that date from the post-Civil War era or "Territorial" period. It is thought that the ranch supplied beef to the nearby Fort Union, which was the protectorate of the Santa Fe Trail between 1850 and 1890. The pitched roof that is so common to the style was often built right over one of the older flat "Pueblo" style roofs when such materials as metal roofing became available from the east.

The headquarters facility includes the foreman's house, stables and a corral, ranch offices, the bunkhouse, a shop and a garage. The location of the headquarters, near the main residence, is far enough away to keep the day-to-day business of the ranch from intruding, yet close enough to make walking easy to and from the various facilities.

Other projects at the ranch include guest quarters, extensive landscaping and renovation of historic structures.
